ELENA TSARENKO – producer and president

Once in 1971 in the distant small Siberian city - Abakan which is located on the mighty river Enisey, a little girl with a violin in her hands put her head into the ballet hall by chance where the rehearsal of the children’s dance company was taking place. Just at this very moment the children were learning some new dancing movements and one of the boys didn't have a partner. The teacher scolded her by mistake for having been late for classes and haven't put on the rehearsal uniform and then told little Elena to go to her partner and join in work. Upon the whole, he told her off for not having learned the movements from the previous lesson. Only later to the good-natured laugh of the children the teacher realised that she was a different girl not from the Dance Company but from the music school situated on the floor above.

This exceptional day stayed in her memory, and since then and till nowadays Elena Tsarenko falls in love with this wonderful world of dance.
In 1977 Elena entered the Siberian Music College, the department of the choreography and graduated from this college with the firs-class degree with high honors.

Elena worked as a dancer as well as a balletmaster and a teacher and simultaneously successfully studied at the State Siberian Institute of Arts. At this time in Moscow she met a perspective choreographer Yuri Tsarenko. It turned out that they have much in common. The Love to each other and to the art of dance united them. They are very happy people who have two "loves" and two children: the daughter of 23 years old who works at the company as a vice-president and a 17-year-old son who studies choreography at the dance school and dreams of becoming a professional dancer and working with his parents. Both their children take active part in the “National Ballet “Kostroma”. The experience of Elena Tsarenko, her love to the art of dance promoted her formation as a professional producer and president of the National Ballet “Kostroma”.

In 2001 Elena Tsarenko became a laureate of the public award “The Hope of Russia” in the nomination “The Extraordinary Woman”; in 2002 she was announced to become “The Person of 2002”; in 2003 she was given the honorary title “The Honored worker of the cultural sphere of the Russian Federation”.
