BEIJING 2017

A new international project of Russian national ballet “Kostroma”, called Global Dance Overture, was launched in Beijing.

The project was held within the framework of the cultural and humanitarian exchange between the BRICS countries. Its aim is to advocate peace, unity and humanism among the people of different nationalities with the help of dance. It is through the art of dancing that Russian national ballet “Kostroma” reveals the cultural diversity of the people populating our countries. 

The premier show dedicated to Russian history and culture took place on November, 24 2017 in the Chinese capital on stage of Beijing Performing Arts Centre, which is one of the largest theatre complexes in Beijing.

It was a high profile international event that provoked great interest among the politicians from Russia, China, the SCO and the CIS countries.

The honoured guests of the Russian National Dance Show “Kostroma” were Andrei Denisov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in China, Maria Zakharova, the Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergei Sitnikov, the Governor of Kostroma Oblast, and Viktor Yemets, the Head of Kostroma City Administration.

The representatives of the People’s Republic of China, who came to the premiere, were Dai Bingo, an ex-member of the State Committee of PRC, Li Huilai, an Assistant Foreign Minister of the PRC who came as the Minister’s Deputy, Lu Li Min, An Assistant Education Minister of the PRC, Sun Tsinu, the Deputy Chairperson of the Chinese People’s Friendship Society Abroad, Tan Yan, the Deputy Chairperson of the Beijing brunch of the Chinese People’s Friendship Society Abroad, and some others.

A presentation of the investment, economic and touristic potential of Kostroma Oblast took place on the eve of the premiere in the Russian Embassy in Beijing. Russian national ballet “Kostroma” introduced the culture of Kostroma region through its new project called “Global Dance Overture”.   

On November, 25 within the framework of Global Dance Overture project Russian national ballet “Kostroma”, together with its off-spring Choreographic college “The Governorate Ballet School”, made a presentation of an educational and tourist project for young people called “International Creative DACHA”.

The event took place in the Beijing Centre for Russian Culture in the form of a workshop. The participants were the graduates of “The Governorate Ballet School”, who presented a part of a stage folk dance class for students of the best professional ballet schools in Beijing, students of the Beijing Dance Academy, the Central University of Nationalities and the Teachers Training University of Beijing, school directors and teachers as well as representatives of some international tourist agencies. All those present had a chance to learn the basics of Russian dance together with the teachers of “The Governorate Ballet School”.

The presentation of the project “Global Dance Overture” in Beijing attracted lots of public attention in the political and cultural world of China and some other countries. It allowed to hold important negotiations to continue the cooperation and pick up the torch of the world tour in 2018 as partners of BRICS -  India, the Republic of South Africa and Brazil.
