Sergei Sitnikov, the Governor of Kostroma Oblast, held a meeting with the Russian National Ballet “K

The Governor’s guests were the Ballet’s managers – Elena Tsarenko, the President and the Producer, Yuri Tsarenko, the Art Director and the Chief Ballet Master, Maria Veshkina, the Vice-President of the Ballet and the Director of “The Governorate Ballet School” (College) and some leading artists of the Ballet, representatives of different generations of the Russian National Ballet “Kostroma”.

It was the first meeting held in such a format. Traditionally, the artists had the honor of meeting the Governor in an informal creative atmosphere at the Ballet’s rehearsal base on New Year’s Eve. This time Sergei Sitnikov invited the Ballet’s representatives to congratulate the team on their anniversary and to commemorate the merits before Kostroma Oblast for the 25 years of fruitful creative activity.

During the talk the Governor met the artists in person and every one of them shared their story of being a part of “Kostroma” Ballet and its life as a big family and of their growth. Elder generations in the person of Anatoliy and Larisa Zhuravlev, Honored Artists of Russia, remembered the years when the Ballet was just being started, how it became famous on Russian and international professional stage, the first guest tours and premiers of the first programs. Younger artists, the representatives of different generations of “The Governorate Ballet School” college graduates – Ivan Tsarenko and Lubava Polushkina, the first graduates of 2007, Anastasia Maltseva, a graduate of 2010, Valeria Zhuravleva, a graduate of 2013 – spoke about their student years, warm memories and professional perspectives of the folk dancing artists.

The managers of the Ballet thanked the Governor for the support the Company and “The Governorate Ballet school” (College) when they were just beginning their way and when they were growing, for the help in realization of important creative projects, educational programs and cooperation with organization of guest tours. Elena Tsarenko said that the Ballet was especially grateful for the support of the charity heroic and historical tour of hero cities dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in World War II «Back Home with Victory!” that has received lots of grateful reviews from the audience as well as lots of attention in the cultural and political environment on the eve of the anniversary.

Maria Veshkina, the Director of the College, and Irina and Aleksei Rubtsov, the teachers of folk stage-dance, soloists and coaches of “Kostroma” Ballet, noted the significance of promoting the professional art of choreography in Kostroma region, the importance of making the college graduates stay on their native land and support for the talented kids of the Oblast.

Elena Tsarenko, the President of the Ballet and an Honored Worker of Culture, and Yuri Tsarenko, the Art Director of the Ballet and an Honored Worker of Art, told the Governor about the ambitious projects the Ballet is working on now – the new program “World Street”, a New Year dancing project “Snegurochka”, holding anniversary events in Kostroma and Moscow, foreign guest tours and the presentation of the new stage of The  Russian National Dance Show “Kostroma” project in the Theatre of Folklore in Olimpyisky Prospect in Moscow.

The guests invited Sergei Sitnikov to their gala-night dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” that is planned for April, 8th on stage of Concert and Exhibition Hall “Gubernsky”. In his turn the Head of the Oblast thanked the team for promoting the art of choreography in the region and Kostroma Oblast outside the country; he also wished them good luck and new creative ideas.
