The Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” held its annual press conference.

The Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” held its annual press conference.

The tradition of regular press conferences with the Oblast mass media was established in 2013, the meeting was held in an informal setting with a cup of tea in the building of the Russian National Ballet “Kostroma”. The hosts were Elena Tsarenko, the President and the Producer, Yuri Tsarenko, the Art Director and the Chief Ballet Master, and Maria Veshkina, the Vice-President of the Ballet and the Director of “The Governorate Ballet School” (College). The main topic for discussion was the 25th anniversary of “Kostroma” Ballet’s work life.

The guests saw an exclusive performance of the fragment of the new program with a draft name “World Street” – choreographic compositions “Flamenco” and “Gypsy Suite”. It was there that Yuri Tsarenko, the Chief Ballet Master of the Ballet, and Olga Pshenitsyna, an invited teacher and a choreographer for Spanish flamenco dance and an assistant of the choreographer and stage manager of “Carmen” opera in Bolshoi Theater shared the details of the staging and rehearsing process with the journalists.

The Ballet managers spoke about the concept of the anniversary gala-concert that is to be held on May, 4th in Concert and Exhibition Hall “Gubernsky”, about the first issue of the newspaper of “Kostroma” Russian National Ballet called “Ballet Mondays” and about new programs and art projects.

Elena Tsarenko stressed the importance of cooperation with famous art workers of our time: “It makes our hearts warm when we remember our work with Ludmila Chursina, a People’s Artist of the USSR, during the heroic and historical tour «Back Home with Victory!” dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in World War II and with the orchestras of hero cities conducted by Pavel Gerstein and with volunteers. We keep in touch with the managers and artists of the companies “Chukotka”, “Lezginka”, “Sayany”; it was thanks to them that the turns of the Asian-Buddhist block of the program “The Russian National Dance Show “Kostroma” were created and filled with the national spirit. We are carrying large-scale work to make costumes for the premier composition “Flamenco” with Pavel Kaplevich, a famous costume designer. We are negotiating cooperation with the Dance Academy of Boris Eifman. I’d like to mention that Kostroma people can see our team-work and many friends of ours at the anniversary concert.”

The Ballet’s managers also spoke about the forthcoming workshops of outstanding teachers in the sphere of folk and classical choreography at the Ballet and College: those will be workshops of Albert Galichanin, a People’s Artist or Russia and Assistant Director of Boris Eifman’s Dance Academy, Anatoliy Borzov, an Honored Artist of Russia and a professor, and Ludmila Movchan-Korkina, a People’s Artist of Russian SFSR.

Maria Veshkina noted: “The year of anniversary is particularly significant for us: it will be this spring that “The Governorate Ballet School” will graduate the fourth generation of students that will be a remarkable even in the world of professional choreography and a real present for the 25th anniversary of the Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” because its team is going to welcome ten new young artists of folk dance.”

Kostroma mass media were the first to learn about the change of stage for the Ballet’s traditional summer tour in Moscow. The Theater of Folklore “Russkaya Pesnya” is to become the hall that will hold thousands of spectators willing to get acquainted with the Russian history and the life of her multiethnic peoples with the help of “The  Russian National Dance Show “Kostroma”.
