An honorary award from the Governor.

Sergei Sitnikov, the Governor of Kostroma Oblast, gave Oblast awards to the leading artists of the Russian National Ballet “Kostroma”. Elena Rubtsova and Pavel Kluchnikov, the Ballet’s soloists, were given an honorary title “Honored Artist of Kostroma Oblast”.

The awarding ceremony took place in Kostroma during the gala-concert dedicated to the 25^th anniversary of the Russian National Ballet “Kostroma”.

Elena Rubtsova, a graduate of Samara State Academy of Culture and Arts, has been working in the Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” since 2002. Being a true Russian beauty, the artist is helping to create a unique image of a woman in folk dancing. One can see Elena Rubtsova’s solos in the turns “Russian Souvenir”, “Winter”, “Celebratory”, “The Fast One” and some others.

The honored artist of Kostroma Oblast says about her award: “Such recognition is a great responsibility for me. It is a standard that I have to meet and even surpass. I have to try to grow, be a role model for younger generations, try myself in new roles and, of course, keep on bringing joy to the audience.”

Pavel Kluchnikov, a graduate of Altai State University of Culture and Arts, has been working for the Ballet for more than 14 years. There are a lot of different roles in his repertoire, both comic and heroic. He performs the leading parts in “Celebratory”, “The Heart’s Warm is Called the Filigree”, “Selo Poteshnoye”, “Tsam”, “At the Tea Shop” and many others. He has the ability to get into a role and turn into people of different professions, nationalities and religions. Pavel’s work is characterised by a male charisma, powerful energy, humor and lyricism. “Having received this award from the Governor, I have understood that the way I once chose, when I was young and did dancing for a hobby and then grew up and dancing became my job and meaning of life, was the right one. Such a distinguished title is like a response to years-long communication with the audience, it is recognition which is worth a lot for every person”, shared Pavel his feelings after he had received the award.
