The Russian Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” gave a gala-concert in Saratov.

It has become a tradition to have “Kostroma” Ballet in Saratov on New Year’s Eve. The Ballet has made lots of friends and admirers among the people of Saratov so as a part of the tour dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Ballet the Company gave a gala-concert consisting of much loved turns of the Ballet’s best shows and the long waited for composition by Yuri Tsarenko called “Gypsies”.

The dance suite “Gypsies” is the first episode of the Ballet’s new large-scale program called “World Street” that the team is working on at the moment. The basis for the premier is a collective image of Moldavian and Romanian Gypsies, their life, relationships, traditions and daily routines. The action on stage is so vivid that the audience becomes a part of it: a violin narrating the story of first love, an old Gypsy palmist telling the future, the ataman giving his blessing and the Gypsy band getting ready for a wild wedding.

It was the first time for Saratov that the audience saw the full version of the Asian-Buddhist block of the program “The Russian National Dance Show “Kostroma"”, too: the Ballet presented a ritual Buddhist dance “Tsam” and “Yohor”, a Buryat dance.

The members of the audience shared their impressions in the Ballet’s Comments Book after the show. They wrote:

“It was super! Come to Saratov again! A fantastic team! Thanks a lot to the people who organized it!”

“It was great! We’ve seen the Ballet two times but we will come for the third, fourth or the tenth time. Come again!”

“Bravo! You are the best we have. We’ve come to the concert for the third time and we’ll come a hundred times! Good luck to you.”

“Unique! We couldn’t sit still we just wanted to dance!”

“We are proud for Russia! Very-very-very good! Go abroad as often as you can and glorify Russia, our motherland. Thrilling!”
