Unique master classes in the center of Kostroma Province.

The administration of Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” and “The Governorate Ballet School” college regularly invites the best teachers and world famous dancers to hold exclusive master classes in order to enhance the quality of the Ballet dancers and the educational level of the students.

This time it was Anatoli Borzov who shared his professional experience.

Anatoli Alekseevich Borzov an artist, a ballet master, a teacher, Honoured Artist of RSFSR, professor. He graduated from Moscow Dance College. From 1946 he was a soloist of the State Company of Folk Dance directed by Igor Moiseev. From 1949 to 1952 he worked as an artist and a teacher for the Moscow Military District Company. In 1969 he graduated magna cum laude from the State Institute of Theatre Art (GITIS) department of ballet mastering, the course of Professor R. Zakharov. From 1953 to 1981 he was employed as a teacher of the folk department and the manager of special courses of Moscow Academic Dance College. From 1966 to 1968 he was the Art Director of the Egypt Folk Dance Company and became the founder of the School affiliated with the College. From 1968 to 1970 he was a teacher of folk stage dance in Moscow Institute of Culture. From 1969 to 1989 he was a teacher, the Dean and Folk Dance Department Chairman and the Vice-President of GITIS. In 1992 he became the founder of Dance Academy of the University named after N. Nesterova and worked as the Dean of the Department and Department Chairman. He has staged more than 100 choreographic miniatures, suites, ballets and choreography compositions for operettas. He has written some articles touching upon the problems of choreography, a certain number of programs and study guides for folk stage and Russian dance.

Anatoli Borzov is one of the brightest soloists of the glorious ensemble of Igor Moiseev, his and Rostislav Zakharov’s student, who carries on the traditions of the Russian and the Soviet national choreography by passing on the experience he has to the young generation of the dancers. This experience is just invaluable for Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” and “The Governorate Ballet School” college. The dancers and the students, who are the actual continuators of the Russian dance traditions, were very enthusiastic and inspired by the Master’s words and tried to remember the entrusted secrets of the manner and the lexis of the folk choreography.
