Opening of the National Russian Show project in Moscow!

Opening of the National Russian Show project in Moscow!

The priority aim of the project is to help to revive the cultural traditions and to create a favorable image of the native town and Russia as a whole. Ballet “Kostroma” has a wealth of guest tours experience. Notwithstanding the fact that the Ballet is extremely popular abroad, it was quite unknown in Russia. No matter how original and well thought the idea if the show is, or how skillful the dancers on stage are, there is no point in it unless the show is available to the audience. The situation changed in 2005 when “Kostroma” Ballet presented 100 concerts in Moscow. One of the people from the audience, who was totally fascinated by the performance, compared it to the famous musical when he wrote in the guest book the following words “Here is the Russian “Chicago!”.

Moscow tour vividly demonstrated one more very optimistic trend. The young people are showing more interest to the national, authentic culture; the Russian people are starting to feel patriotic and proud of their country.

“This trend must be supported and developed”, says Elena Tsarenko. “We have wonderful younger generation. Thousands of school students from Russia and CIS countries have seen our programs. It was they who made the audience stand up feeling proud of Russia”.

There are no other programs in Russia or abroad that could surpass the skills of art and stage implementation. The grandiose action unfolds on stage and lasts almost two hours. This is an author’s show where modern special effects, such as video projections and laser animation, as well as splendid scenery and costumes are employed and are presented against the background of the amazing combination of music, theatre and dance. Every turn is characterized by individual choreographic lexis taken from authentic Russian folk dance and modern pasticcios. The Ballet can be proud of its team of professionals who can understand each other without words. The music for all the turns of the show was written by Vladimir Kornev, a composer, famous folklorist, Honoured Artist of Russia and the chevalier of the Order of Nations’ Friendship, who the Ballet has been cooperating with for more than 10 years. The Russian National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments named after Osipov and conducted by Nikolai Kalinin helped to record the phonograms.

The show has a truly Russian scale because there are more than 50 ballet dancers participating in the turns. There were made more than 200 exclusive costumes decorated with pearls, silver and beadwork. Many costume details copy the elements of the national clothes from the northern part of Russia. All the costumes and accessories were made on the special orders in LENA-LINE, OJSC workshops (Moscow) and the workshops of MOSSOVET theatre.

Alexander Grim made special hand embroidered scenery which changes during the performance. The show is a blockbuster, it is a large scale project which has been vastly invested with creative, financial and technical means. The show can surprise one with the originality and the beauty of the idea as well as with the virtuosity of the performance and professional approach to the details.

The project is the pure essence of live art that can revive somewhat satiated perception of the modern audience. Many, including the younger generation, start to show interest to the traditional national culture.
