Russian National Ballet "Kostroma" opened the 7th ballet season in Moscow. June 2011
Starting from the time when in 2005 “The Russian National Dance Show” was set up and brought into life as a social project by Elena Tsarenko, the Producer of Russian National Ballet “Kostroma”, Yuri Tsarenko, the Art Director and the Chief Ballet Master, and Maria Veshkina (Tsarenko), the Ballet’s Vice-President in Foreign Affairs, until now The Russian National Show has been aimed at bringing up tolerant, patriotic and esthetically educated society. The entertaining but educating function serves as the basis for the drama plot of the historical show itself and the organizational activities connected with the project.
The Russian National Dance Show “Kostroma” is an esthetic journey into the depth of the Russian history – the times of Prince Igor, Tsar Ivan the Terrible, Shaliapin and Yuri Gagarin – from the birth of Christianity up to the present day. The virtuosity of the artists’ skills, their phenomenal acting, 22 stage transformations, alive pictures of video projection, pyrotechnical special effects such as thick smoke, fire and the starry sky amaze the audience. The maidens’ modesty is accompanied by the men’s bravery, sadness and fun, restraint and recklessness – all go hand in hand; here the samovar comes to life and geese and a black horse can dance; and the jewelry box produces eight miniature girl-dancers as though by magic.
This summer the Ballet gives 83 historical performances about Great Enigmatic Rus starting from the 13th of June to the 15th of September.
The Show takes place every day from Friday to Wednesday with Thursdays being days-off.
The Show starts at 19:30.
The tickets are sold in all the theatre box offices in Moscow and at the ticket counter located in the main lobby of Cosmos Hotel. Retired people, social card holders, school and university students as well as students of foster homes and boarding schools can buy the tickets at a special price of 100 rubles.
Disabled people are regularly given free invitations.
