Ballet "Kostroma" Celebrates its 20th Anniversary.

Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” has been the bearer of the traditional folk culture for twenty years. They have created 10 dancing shows and have brought to life 5 dancing projects; the Ballet has taken part in large-scale culture events of national and world importance. Those were guest tours within the framework of the year of Russia in France and the year of France in Russia, “Slaviansky Bazar” festival in Belorussia, “Russian Winter” in Great Britain, Eurovision Competition in Russia, Exhibition of People’s Achievements in the Republic of Cuba, opening of the first orthodox church in the Arab Emirates and many others. The Ballet has also took part in such TV shows as “Smeyatsa Razreshayetsa” (Laughing is Allowed”, “Saturday Night with Nikolai Baskov”, “Anniversary Night of Ekaterina Shavrina”. It has had guest tours in 25 countries of the world, more than 200 cities of Russia and CIS countries. It presented premieres in London, Moscow, Paris and Rotterdam.  

20 years – 2,000 shows – audience of 2.5 million people

This year on the International Day of Dance Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” performed the most popular and beloved by the Kostroma people choreographic compositions created in 20 years: the solemn “Prologue”, the first staging of Yuri Tsarenko; “Molitva” (The Prayer), the irreplaceable turn of every programme; “Nayezdniki” (Horse-Riders), the turn which conquered the fifth continent; composition called “Vo Derevne Olhovke” (In Olhovka Village).  These turns were performed by the first soloists of “Kostroma” – Larissa and Anatoly Zhuravlev, Yana Zadumova, Andrei Palagin, Sergei Lipin – as they did 20 years ago. These dancers were accompanied on stage by other artistic generations which include many of the Governorate Ballet School College graduates.

For the first time the audience could see exclusive video of the Ballet’s life, its history, guest tours, stage and backstage work.

Dancers of Russian National Ballet “Kostroma”, the third year students of the Governorate Ballet School College and the students of the Dance School for Children affiliated to Russian National Ballet “Kostroma” took part in the jubilee show    

Anniversary heroes were congratulated by such guests of honour as Igor Slunyayev, Kostroma region Governor, Andrei Bychkov, the Chairman of the Region Duma, Flun Gumerov, the co-founder of the Ballet and the President of ALMAZ HOLDING company.
