Ballet “Kostroma” performed at the first official event of the Olympic season in Sochi

“The ballet “Kostroma” was afforded the honor of presenting the culture of the central part of Russia and its region by “The Holiday Dance” which gained the worldwide recognition as the hallmark of the ballet and other major events of the state value – the production of the honored worker of arts – Yury Tsarenko.

According to the promoters this choreographic composition could most clearly reflect the traditional image of Great Russia combining its original symbols – golden domes, the beauty of nature, the soul’s breadth of Russian people in the colorful performance filled with lyricism, temperament and brilliant technical performance.

The participants of the festive opening became: the state symphonic orchestra “New Russia”, the artistic director and the main conductor – Yury Bashmet; the prima – ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre – Ekaterina Shipulina; Jukebox Trio; Saint-Petersburg academic theatre of ballet of Leonid Yacobson; the children choir “Inter-school Aesthetic Centre”. The folk part was presented by “The Russian National Ballet “Kostroma”; the ensemble “Chukotka”; the state ensemble “Kabardinka”; “The State Academic Kuban Cossack Choir”.

The participants of the opening ceremony showed the combined creative work at the grand final – “Multinational Russia”.
