THE IPATYEV MONASTERY is a jewel of the Russian spiritual architecture. The Holy Trinity Ipatyev Eparchial Monastery (15th – 17th century), called the cradle of the Romanov dynasty, is the main symbol of Kostroma inseparable from the most crucial events of the Russian history. The ensemble of the Ipatyev Monastery includes the Trinity Cathedral (17th century) with the frescos of famous painters Guriy Nikitin and Ilya Savin and an impressive carved iconostasis of the 17th century, the Chambers of the Romanovs Boyars.
