Romanov Museum

ROMANOV MUSEUM duration: 1.5 hours (1 hour for the excursion and 30 minutes for the journey) - 500 roubles per person (including transport expenses) for one excursion.

Romanov Museum was officially opened on May, 19 1913 with Emperor Nikolas II and his family present. The Museum has not changed its name and purpose for more than 100 years and welcomes its visitors to enjoy a rich collection of art.

Exhibition “Three Centuries of Art” incorporates the best items kept in the funds of Kostroma Museum and Reserve. There are more than 200 items on display. They are unique paintings, graphics, sculpture and porcelain – some items are presented to the public for the first time and some are items that have been a part of several international exhibition projects.

«Kostroma Boyars: Human Resources for the Throne”

The exhibition is dedicated to the events of the Time of Troubles when the fates of two dynasties of boyar – the Godunovs and the Romanovs – intersected on Kostroma land. The visitors of the exhibition will find themselves in the boyar chambers of the beginning of the 17th century and see original as well as reconstructed things of everyday life, arms and weapons, books and documents.
