LAVROV FACTORY OF ART PAINTING IN NEREKHTA duration: 3.5 hours (2 hours for the journey + 45 minutes of excursion of the factory + 45 minute workshop of painting) – 1,000 roubles per person (including transport expenses)

There are quite a few towns and villages rich in folk traditions and crafts in Kostroma region, Nerekhta is one of them.

The first mentioning of Nerekhta dates back to 1214. This little town is often called an open air museum – there are lots of beautiful monuments of religious and civil architecture. Picturesque green street, white walls of monasteries and cathedrals, slow flow of the Solonitsa river immerse visitors into the atmosphere of provincial life of Russian noble people. 

It is here that since 1993 more than 100 artists, designers, carvers, turners and lacquers make handmade gifts and souvenirs with art painting. Lavrov toys are made of birch and lime wood and painted by hand that is why each of them is unique.
